Revising my Japan Project Proposal

On second thought, I am going to make like a Wedding Planning book about Japanese weddings. It will kind of be like a scrapbook thing. I talked to you about it. You said it was good haha. I will like create a Japanese wedding in the scrapbook and tell about the history of Japanese weddings.

Japan Project Proposal

For my Japan project I am going to do a childrens book. My childrens book is going to be Japanese women. I am going to sell this book to little Japanese girls to help them realize what there mothers have to go through and what they will eventually have to go through.

My interest in this came about throught the Afghanistan project. I saw what those women had to go through and it made me think about what the other women in the world have to go through.

More Than 100 Years Later, the World I Live In Still Displays the Impact of the New Imperialism

It has been more than 100 years since the "New Imperialism" took place and there are still signs of the it. One thing is the European advancements. European advancements are still far more greater and developed than Africa is today. It's incredible, after all these years, to still see the major difference and how much less Africans have it. Another thing that I even have a problem with is how some people still believe in Social Darwinism. I can't even imagine how people can even compare other people to themselves like that. I don't even get it. Some thing that will always be affected my imperialism are the world's boundaries and regions. They are still divided and distributed. Some boundaries are still accurate from the imperialism. It's amazing to see that something that happened over 100 years ago is a major part of life today.

Positive Effects of the New Imperialism

There was not as many positive affects of imperialism as there are negative effects. Positive affects of the New Imperialism was oversea expansion. This happened because of the natural resources everyone wanted to make products and sell them in new markets. Imperialism also allowed Europe to increase their population. Europeans had new teachnologies that spread through Africa rapidly. Europeans developed the Maxium Guns and rifles. Another positive effect was the missionaries. They helped out the Africans dramatically. They even called them their children. They set up schools and clinics to help them and tried to work in some western civilization in there.

Negative Effects of the New Imperialism

Some negative effects of the New Imperialism are not everyone agreed with it. Like the Africans resisted it. Some groups who resisted were the Algerians, Samori Toure, Zulus, Asante, and Shona. The successful resistance was by Ethiopia. The ruler Menelik II modernized Ethiopia and when Italy tried to invade he was prepared and shut them down. Not everyone was successful in shutting them down. A lot of African culture was loss because of the breaking up of tribes and religious groups. Africans were also poorly treated. Europeans divided African land among themselves and bye, bye African culture. Another negative was the decrease in food supply. The population was growing so rapidly that there was a strain on food supply. In the 1800s famines swept India. The negative effect of New Imperialism is carving out nations without regard to tribal boundaries. When imperialism ended, border disputes arose and still continue to this day.

What is the "New Imperialism"?

The whole start to the "New Imperialism" was Nationalism. Imperialist still have strong pride and love for ones country. The "New Imperialism" is talking about imperialism in Europe. Imperialism is the domination by one country of the political, economic, or cultural life of another country or region. The "New Imperialism" took place in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. The "New Imperialism" happened because nation-states were developing. Speed was the main thing that set this imperialism apart from the rest. It was so quick and efficient because of the technology they had. By this new technology they could speed things up and get resources faster. The Industrial Revolution also helped the "New Imperialism" out with economies in Europe.

George Leigh Mallory led an expedition to summit Everest in 1924. Mallory disappeared and was lost forever with his pal Andrew "Sandy" Irvine. The summit was reached for the first time in 1960 by a Chinese expedition.

After locating these facts, reflect on why people would want to engage in these types of extreme activities. Why would someone do that? Would you? Why or why not? Is it worth it to risk you life just to do something like this?

People are curious. They are always going to be curious. They want to know what all is out there and if there is anything out there. Also, people loved the adrenaline rush. They love the thrill of doing something dangerous, new, and something no one has ever done before. I would like to do something like that, but it would totally suck to get lost like George Mallory. It would be worth it to make a discover and be super cool and get your name EVERYWHERE, but I don't like the whole there is a 98% chance you might die kind of thing. It would have to be something extremely awesome for me to want to do it.
