Positive Effects of the New Imperialism

There was not as many positive affects of imperialism as there are negative effects. Positive affects of the New Imperialism was oversea expansion. This happened because of the natural resources everyone wanted to make products and sell them in new markets. Imperialism also allowed Europe to increase their population. Europeans had new teachnologies that spread through Africa rapidly. Europeans developed the Maxium Guns and rifles. Another positive effect was the missionaries. They helped out the Africans dramatically. They even called them their children. They set up schools and clinics to help them and tried to work in some western civilization in there.

  1. some good ideas here, some problems...the European population growth you mention didn't really take place in this era, but in an earlier one, when they first got access to "new world" foods like potatoes. And although you are right that many well-intended missionaries were very caring towards Africans, a problem arose when westerners, even for good reasons, treated grown men and women as if they were children, rather than respecting them as co-equal adults.
